About the workshops
Workshop 1: 2 - 5.30pm - Curing and the art of movement refinement
Effective Reformer teaching balances observation, cueing, and refinement. Cueing sets the basics—equipment settings, start positions, and movement patterns—while refinement elevates movement quality, helping clients achieve the full expression of that shape or movement. Excellence in large group refinement relies on understanding the shape, its relationship to the Reformer, and how to guide clients effectively and safely at scale. Contemporary Pilates too often constrains shapes and movements that are available to ALL bodies, in the name of safety and alignment. This workshop builds the skills and confidence necessary to safely and confidently explore bigger shapes and heavier loads in large group classes. We will examine selected movements in detail, focusing on refining shapes at a group scale. These examples are carefully chosen to highlight actions and efforts that repeat throughout the broader repertoire. A particular focus is on how to include spinal extension for everyone you teach in a safe and scalable way. Workshop 2: 2 - 5.30pm - One Movement, Many Springs In large-group Reformer programming, not all exercises are created equal.
Certain movements lend themselves to this transformational approach, where varying spring tensions target entirely different muscle groups. This workshop delves into these movements and helps instructors understand the critical interplay between spring tension and footbar height, tailored to clients’ mass and body length. I will teach you:
How to target different and specific muscle groups using the same movement via different equipment settings.
How to seamlessly incorporate these exercises into large group programming with Layered Clusters.
How to combine these skills to make group classes more engaging and effective for all participants.
Participants of both workshops receive:
Access to the workshop.
6-month access to workshop recording
6-month access to supporting self-paced
learning
Discounts on further Contrology Collective
self-paced learning.
$1000AUD discount on the Reformer Mastery
